These texts leave from here toward your number: why, and how to cut it short
A number is rarely targeted by chance. Working out where the send comes from is the fastest way to stop it — and, if need be, to block it for good.
Envoyer SMS Gratuit is a public gateway: anyone can write a message in their browser and send it to a French mobile. If your number receives one, the service is not writing to you — someone is using it to. This page explains how your number came to be typed in here, what you can do right away and free of charge, then how to request a permanent block if the sends carry on.
How your number came to be typed in here
Four situations cover nearly every case. Recognising yours changes what you should do.
A number put back into circulation
Cancelled lines are reassigned by operators after a few months. You inherit the contacts, the habits and sometimes the creditors of the previous holder. The sends are not aimed at you: they are aimed at someone who no longer has that number.
One digit off
Out of ten digits, a single slip is enough. The sender believes they are writing to someone close, the message lands on your phone, and they will do it again until they realise. It is the most common case, and the easiest to stop.
Someone who knows you
A no-account sending service also attracts those who want to write without being identified: an ex, a neighbour, a colleague. The messages are then repeated and personal. This is the situation that most quickly warrants a block.
A database that got around
A number left on a form, resold, then replayed in bulk. The wording is generic, the sending is automated, and replying will not stop it — quite the opposite, it confirms the line is live.
Three things to do before anything else
- Do not reply, not even "STOP". A reply proves the number is live, which is worth more to whoever is working it than the message itself.
- Keep a screenshot with the date and time. If the sends repeat or turn threatening, that is the only evidence a complaint will be able to rest on.
- Do not open any link in the message. If there is one, the page to read is our file on SMS scams, not the page you are being pointed at.
What a block here does not fix
- It does not erase messages already recorded. Past sends stay in our records; two other offers, on the received-SMS page, exist to have them deleted.
- It only covers our own gateway. A text sent from another site, by an advertiser or from an ordinary phone will keep arriving, and we have no way of preventing it.
- It is no substitute for 33700. Against a fraudulent message, it is the report to 33700 that lets operators cut the source off, not a block on a single site.

Check the send really comes from here
The received-SMS page shows what goes through our gateway. If nothing there matches what you received, the message comes from elsewhere and a block here would change nothing.

Open the block request
On the received-SMS page, the block offer sits alongside the two deletion offers. The button below opens the right form directly.

Enter the number to protect
A French mobile starting with 06 or 07. Read it back: that number, and only that number, is the one that goes on the block list.

Pay for the request
Payment goes through Stripe. No card details pass through our servers, and none are kept here.

The block is placed
Processing starts as soon as the payment clears. The number joins the gateway's block list: no visitor of the site will be able to text it again. It is permanent.

Why is this paid for when sending is free?
The block is placed by hand on the gateway, one number at a time, and it is permanent. The amount covers that handling and discourages frivolous requests aimed at somebody else's line.
Can I have a number blocked that is not mine?
No. The request has to concern a line you hold. Blocking someone else's number would cut them off from messages they may well be expecting.
Can the block be lifted later?
No, there is no self-service way back. Once listed, the number stays on the block list.
Do my old messages disappear from the site?
No, the block only looks forward. To have messages already recorded taken down, the received-SMS page carries two separate offers: one for messages sent to a number, the other for those sent from a number and shown publicly.
I am still getting texts after the block, is that normal?
If they come from elsewhere, yes: we can only act on our own sends. Compare the time and the sender with what appears on the received-SMS page to work out where the message really starts.
The messages are threatening, what else can I do?
A block is no substitute for filing a complaint. Keep the screenshots, report to 33700 if it is a fraudulent campaign, and go to the gendarmerie or the police station in cases of harassment.
