Your most frequent questions
Everything you need to know about sending a free SMS to a French mobile, straight from your browser.
Each question below opens a dedicated page: detailed answer, concrete examples and points to watch. Browse the index or go straight to the topic that concerns you.
- 01Which number shows up on the recipient's phone? The message is sent from a shared gateway number: that's what appears, never your personal number. To be contacted back, leave an email address or other contact detail in the text.
- 02Do I need to create an account? No, no sign-up. Enter the recipient's number and your message, then confirm. It's free and instant, with no password to remember.
- 03Which numbers can I write to?Any French mobile starting with 06 or 07, whatever the carrier (Orange, SFR, Bouygues, Free…). Sending is free in every case.
- 04Why is there a countdown before sending?A short delay comes before confirmation. It prevents accidental sends and limits abuse, which is what keeps the service free and open to everyone.
- 05Are there any ads?No, no ads and no banners. The interface stays clean and the service free, with no ads following your sends around.
- 06How many characters fit in an SMS?160 characters. Accents and special characters may be converted to ensure proper delivery on every mobile.
- 07Can I send SMS in bulk? No. The free service is meant for personal, occasional use. Mass or automated sending is not allowed, so that it can stay free for everyone.
- 08Is sending really free?Yes, sending to French mobiles starting with 06 and 07 is entirely free, with no subscription or bank card. No hidden charges afterwards.
- 09Can I get a reply to my SMS?No. The message is sent from a shared gateway number and replies don't reach your phone. For a back-and-forth, leave a way to contact you in your message.
- 10Is sending a free SMS legal?Yes, sending a free SMS is perfectly legal. It's certain uses — spam, harassment, threats — that are not, whatever the channel.
- 11Are my data and my message kept?Only the information needed for delivery is processed, and sends are logged to prevent abuse. Nothing is resold to third parties.
- 12Is there a sending limit? For normal personal use, sending is unlimited. Reasonable anti-abuse safeguards exist only to prevent spam and keep the service free.
- 13Can I send to a landline or to a number abroad? No. The free service only sends to French mobiles starting with 06 or 07.
- 14What happens in the event of misuse?Abusive sends can lead to the number or IP address being blocked. Harassment, threats and unlawful messages remain offences, traceable and disclosable to the authorities.
- 15Can I attach a photo (MMS)?No. The service sends text only (160 characters), with no attachment or image.
- 16How do I report an abusive SMS I received?Forward it free of charge to 33700, the official number for reporting unwanted SMS in France.
- 17Can I schedule a send in advance? No. Sending can't be scheduled: the message goes out right after confirmation. Send it at the moment you want.
- 18Can the recipient block my messages?Since messages are sent from a shared gateway number, the recipient can block that number. Always respect a refusal of contact: persistence may amount to harassment.
- 19On which devices can I use it?From any browser, on a computer, tablet or smartphone. No app to install, and always free.
- 20How do I know if my SMS was received? The gateway confirms the message was accepted, not that it was displayed on the phone: there is no delivery receipt. The absence of an error doesn't guarantee it was read.
