Forward an abusive SMS to 33700
A free process, in two messages, from any French mobile line.
33700 is the French platform dedicated to reporting unsolicited messages and calls. It is free and available whatever your carrier. Forwarding an SMS doesn't erase it from your device, but it feeds the system that helps carriers spot and then shut down the lines behind waves of fraud. On Envoyer SMS Gratuit, our personal sends are occasional, free, and have nothing to do with these campaigns.
The reporting procedure step by step
- 1
Forward the SMS to 33700
In your messaging app, choose forward on the suspicious message and send it to 33700. The operation is free and doesn't eat into your plan.
- 2
Give the sender's number
The system automatically follows up to learn which line wrote to you. Copy this number exactly, with no space or extra prefix.
- 3
Don't open any link in the message
A link slipped into a fraudulent SMS almost always leads to a copy of a well-known site, designed to harvest your credentials or your card details.
- 4
Add the number to your block list
Blocking doesn't depend on reporting: it protects you right away, while the report goes after the source of the campaign.
The STOP notice is a legal obligation
In France, every SMS with an advertising purpose must offer a simple, free way to refuse the sending, most often via STOP to 36111 or a keyword to send back. Replying STOP must put an end to the solicitations. An advert that omits this notice is illegal, and its sender should moreover have obtained your prior consent under the GDPR.
The framework set by French law
- SMS advertising relies on the recipient's prior, free and informed consent.
- Every promotional message must include an immediate and free way to opt out, the well-known STOP notice.
- The advertiser behind the message must remain clearly identifiable when reading it.
- Bloctel targets voice canvassing and leaves SMS aside: for the latter, the tool remains 33700.
Envoyer SMS Gratuit sends no commercial message
Envoyer SMS Gratuit is limited to personal and occasional sends, entirely free. Advertising operations, mass broadcasts and prospecting are prohibited by our terms of use. An unwanted SMS you may have received therefore never comes from our forms; even so, use our contact page to alert us to any misuse linked to the service.
Your most frequent questions
Do you have to pay to report to 33700?
No. Forwarding the message and then replying to 33700 costs nothing and isn't deducted from your plan, on all French carriers.
Can 33700 be reached from abroad?
No. It's a French national service, accessible via a French mobile line; other countries manage their own reporting numbers.
A sender ignores my STOP, what should I do?
Forward it to 33700, then file a complaint with the CNIL: ignoring an opt-out is a clear breach of the GDPR.
