The recipient received nothing
The message was properly sent, but stays invisible on their side.
As soon as the service accepts the message, it leaves our field of action. The reasons for a non-reception are therefore almost all downstream, and some completely escape verification: better to know that before searching in vain.
The causes, from the most common to the rarest
- 1
The number was well formed but wrong
A correctly written but misreported number leaves without triggering an error: it simply ends up with another person. This is by far the most common explanation.
- 2
The mobile was switched off or off-network
The operator holds the message and then delivers it, most often within the hours following the phone's return to the network.
- 3
The operator filtered the delivery
Each operator applies its own spam filters to messages from gateways. A text can thus be stopped without either you or us being notified.
- 4
The recipient blocked the sending number
The sending number we use is shared among all senders. If it has been blocked on the recipient's mobile, your sends won't appear.
Steps to follow
- 1
Go over the number digit by digit
Check it against its original source rather than in the form, where a starting error will always reproduce identically.
- 2
Wait a few hours
A switched-off phone retrieves its pending messages as soon as it restarts. Resending right away only creates a duplicate.
- 3
Invite the recipient to check their filters
Some mobiles file messages from unknown numbers in a separate folder, where they easily escape notice.
- 4
Use another channel if urgency demands it
Neither you nor we can force delivery. For a message that absolutely must arrive, a call remains safer.
Frequently asked questions
Can I know whether my SMS was properly delivered?
No. This service doesn't provide a delivery receipt: it confirms acceptance of the message, never its display on the phone.
Does resending the message improve its chances of arriving?
Rarely, and a repeated resend mainly increases the risk of ending up filtered as unwanted by the operator.
