The slow decline of the traditional landline.
According to ARCEP's Electronic Communications Observatory, fixed telephony subscriptions reaches 37 millions of units in 2024 in France. The maximum over the period was recorded in 2009 (41 millions of units). Between 1998 and 2024, the change amounts to +8.4 %.

Subscription to the fixed telephone service is declining as mobile and internet-based communications take hold. The historic landline is losing ground, even if voice over a box retains a share of it.
