eSIM

The eSIM is a component already inside the phone; the carrier writes a profile to it remotely, from a QR code or an app. The number behaves exactly as it would on a plastic card: same calls, same texts, same portability.

Its appeal is flexibility: several profiles can live on one device, which suits a local plan while travelling or a second line. It anonymises nothing, though, since each profile stays tied to an identified contract.
